Uranus, friend or foe?

Uranus, friend or foe?

If you’re experiencing the unexpected, Uranus may an influencing factor.  From now through Feb. 3 2026, it is retrograde (the celestial appearance of backward motion). Astrologically, its potentially yin or yang influence is known to awaken the “dawning light on reformed beginnings, meaningful ventures, intuition, and positive growth…” (quote from Stars, Cards, and Stones). But its present backward direction may trigger unexpected events and challenging solutions to old problems such as riots or demonstrations or hassles with rejuvenation procedures such as face lifts gone wrong.  Sometimes called Herschel, it has the reputation of influencing karmic directions and altering frequencies in the space that someone considers their private, psychic comfort zone. Not to be taken lightly, one of its primary duties is removing chains of oppression and modifying the annoyances caused by other’s dissatisfaction.

Uranus co-rules (with Jupiter) the Sun sign Aquarius, (the zodiacal humanitarian) and the 11th house on the zodiacal wheel that is linked with community affairs and friendships.  It is the planetary sign of the rebel, teenage rebellion, breakthroughs or break-ups and a sudden impulsiveness to protect those who appear to be under the weather or abused by other’s wrong doings.

Not surprisingly, Uranus rules the Tarot card the Fool, (expect the unexpected) and through this major arcana card numbered zero, it’s planetary attributes are considered favorable for increasing “in the now” communications.  Key to this card’s interpretation are the phrases “rebel without a cause,” “don’t hold me down,” and the words “unconventional” and “sudden change.”

A poem in this moment for Uranus

        Butt-Bare Naked, Unafraid, and Impulsive

Transcendent dreams of awakening

Invites the restless heart

To soar high like an eagle,

With uplifted wings of freedom loving, bright boons

Upholding truth while living with passion to invoke a better world.

Oh dear me…my bed is calling and my cat is yawning…there’s so much more to say about Uranus…but not now.

Love to all,

Kooch

Dylan’s uncanny knack for journeying into alternative psychic realities invites encounters with spirits from subterranean depths. While balancing between occult and worldly realities of doom and hope, he struggles to unveil mysteries of the heart. His life is strangely intertwined with an offbeat cast of characters who walk in psychic realms and the shadowy side of San Francisco.

Excerpt:

…. Mark, Give that to me.  I’s my magical stone.” she said in protest.  She didn’t know why but a current of fear shot through her body.  At the same moment the electricity went out and room became comletely dark.  “give me my stone,” she repeated.

Dancing shadows filled the room from a glow that emanated from the stone in Mark’s hand.  Its shape seemed to shift into what appeared to be the head of sphinx with luminous eyes that penetrated the darkness.

“Wow, it glows in the dark,” Mark said.  “Is it some kind of crystal or is it plastic?  Where did you get that thing? Mark strained his eyes to find her hand in the dark.  “Oh crap!  It feels like fire ants are biting my palm.  Here, take it back before I drop it.”

Just as she rock slipped back into Camilla’s hand, she pulled away from Mark’s touch, and the electricity came back on.

“I found it in an old abandoned house,” she replied….

Is Love in Your Cup?

Is Love in Your Cup?

A tarot student once asked, “What does it mean if the majority of the cards in my tarot spread show the suit of cups?”

“It’s important to drink from the cup of love,” was my reply.

A different answer to this question can involve exploring the meaning of the specific cards in the layout.  However, this question could also be answered by examining the the meaning of the symbols on the suit of cups. What are the cups communicating to us?

Traditionally, the suit of cups most often involves love, passion, and relationships. It’s identified with the element water, the emotions, depth of feelings, receptivity, imagination, the intuition, and the subconscious.  When there is a predominance of the suit of cups in a tarot spread, its message involves a watery or emotional inquiry.  It visually shows the importance of discussing your client’s heart-felt needs and puts their longings and desires in the limelight.  Even if the topic of romance isn’t the main question being asked, the person receiving the reading may need to get more in touch with their feelings and the truth of what’s affecting their inner reality.  Listening to feelings can play a strong role in decision making.

A majority of this suit in a spread can indicate that life experiences are triggering emotional reactions. If the cards are mostly upright and illustrate positive or heart happy images such as we mostly find on the ace of cups, I might ask my client if he or she is falling in love or seeking advice about an on-going relationship.  When most of the cup cards in the spread are reversed, I may ask whether a relationship is in conflict or if there is tension invoked by emotional concerns.  Is the person who is getting the reading suffering from the pain of loss, focusing on a past relationship, or quarreling with a significant other?

During the discussion of the potential meaning of the cup cards, it will become obvious if the person is anxious or secure, a victim or victor in love, and how you can best nourish your client’s sense of well-being. While viewing the spread to explore the path of the inner self, it may become possible to dive into the sea of the subconscious mind and find truths buried under the surface of conscious awareness.  Most often, a key to unveiling the message of this suit is to inwardly question, “What are you presently drinking from the cup of love?”
